After 11 wonderful seasons of bringing family fun to the Pacific Northwest, as of April 2022 Theater Under The Stars has (for the time being) ceased operations. With two lost summers due to Covid and now losing our lease on our outdoor performing location, we are sorry to announce this very sad setback. Obviously this means we will not have a 2022 Season and honestly, we don’t know what the future holds. We are still believers in good clean family entertainment that all ages can enjoy together, so hopefully a reboot can occur sometime in the future. Periodically check here for updates. We love the fun times we had together and thank you, our regular attendees, for making this endeavor so joyful and fulfilling. You’re the best! We hope to see you all again soon!Become a star, under the stars!Quite possibly the most fun you’ll have performing in your life! Are you talented, reliable and enjoy people? Then performing at Theater Under The Stars may be for you! Are you ready to be a part of something incredibly new and innovative in a beautiful resort location? In 2019, Theater Under The Stars will be presenting two completely different productions simultaneously! Therefore, we will be employing a troupe of 6 actors, aged 14 to whatever (and a few techies, and a house manager) to appear in one, or maybe both, shows (as well as we’ll be hiring understudies). Rehearsals will begin in late May 2019 and the first production will open in June. Our second production will open a week later. Starting the week of July 1st, both shows will run on a two day rotation through Labor Day weekend. All actors and techies will be employees of Theater Under The Stars and will be paid hourly or weekly (to be negotiated with each individual performer). Interested? Keep reading...

FOR VIDEO AUDITIONS VIA YOUTUBE: -Record a video clip of you singing (from a show you’ve been in or just singing into your smart phone, ballads preferred), -next, share a short comedy monologue-then share a short biography of yourself, -then close with a short answer to this question, “You should hire me because...”. Upload this video onto YouTube and send us the link with the above information. FOR LIVE AUDITIONS: Fill out the supplied paperwork and bring it with you to the audition (or email it to us now). Be prepared to sing a short song acappella (ballads preferred) and read a scene from the play (which will be supplied the day of auditions). Day and time TBA. Audition details & guidelines
3) At auditions, we’ll ask you to do a cold reading from our script (supplied the day of the audition) and sing a short song a cappella (that means “without music,” just like “American Idol,” but without the judges...and the million dollar prize!). All cast members must be at least 14 years old, have their own transportation, be in good health and be reliable (“reliable” = “that may be relied on; dependable in achievement, accuracy, honesty, etc.”). If you’re not reliable, please don’t audition. All actors will be asked to sign a Performance Contract (see .pdf above). Since most of our rehearsals and performances will be on evenings and weekends, some actors in previous productions have been able to keep their “day” job. 4) We will notify you following your audition, whether it’s on video or live, whether or not you will be offered a part.5) Those cast will receive a script to memorize and a DVD of a previous production to study. A couple of weeks prior to opening, rehearsals will begin for production #1. Once opened, rehearsals for production #2 will begin during the day. You will have some days of rehearsals during the day and show performances at night. All actors will not be needed at all rehearsals, so please refer to the rehearsal schedule once published. Any unexcused absences from either rehearsals or performances (or lateness to rehearsals) will be grounds for immediate dismissal. We can work around some limited conflicts if you have any, please disclose at time of audition. Each actor may also be asked to help out with tech, marketing, advertising, ushering, greeting, box office sales, snack bar and clean up on performance nights. Since we are a professional theater company with tickets sold usually months in advance, reliability is of the utmost importance.A Theater Under The Stars performer must be a team player with good people and improvisational skills. Much of our show is interactive with our audiences, so good ad-libbing skills are a plus! In addition to the show performance, all cast members will also be required to set-up and take-down theatrical sets and equipment before and after each run of the show. Therefore, you should be in good health and be able to do some light (and sometimes heavy) lifting. No divas or prima donnas allowed! Cast members may also be required to appear in character before and after the show to meet and greet our audience guests, plus help with marketing, selling tickets, answering correspondence and selling at the snack bar at intermissions. Also, any additional talents you have (juggling, mime, singing, dancing, acrobats, etc.) that we can utilize in the “Olio” that we call “Chelanigans” are welcome! We like to consider all of our cast members as part of our bigger family of creative players.Techies, Tickets & Treats, Oh My! Additionally, we will also be casting two able-bodied souls who will help run our ticket table, snack bar and sound/lights. These two teammates will also work every night and be employed by Theater Under The Stars. Please read the “Performer’s Contract” (above in .pdf) and then fill out the employment application (above in .pdf) and send in, with a cover letter telling us about yourself, plus any theatrical experience you may have.Don’t delay, write today!
